Security officers in
Cape Canaveral,
Florida.
Cape Canaveral is the city at the north end of the barrier island, between Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral, about nine miles from our Merritt Island office by the Beachline. We staff hotel posts for the cruise trade, standing posts around the port's commercial edge, and launch-day crowd details.

What Cape Canaveral asks of a post
Airspace. Cape Canaveral has the hardest airspace line in the county. North of the port is Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, under restricted airspace and a national-security flight restriction that no authorization from a private operator lifts. South of the port, over the city itself, the airspace is largely uncontrolled below 400 feet. A parcel's side of the port decides the aerial answer before any other factor does.
Storm season. The north end of the barrier island is in the county's first evacuation zone, and the port closes to shipping ahead of a storm, which empties the hotels in a day. Pre-storm securing here is done early and against surge from both the ocean and the port's harbour. After the storm, the Beachline and A1A decide when a property is reachable, and the first check is usually the ground floor and the parking structure.
The port. Port Canaveral is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, and the city exists in its rhythm: passengers arrive the night before, ships turn around on the same few days each week, and the hotels, lots and shuttle operations fill and empty with the schedule. A hotel post in Cape Canaveral is staffed to embarkation days, and a lot post is about vehicles left for a week rather than a night.
Launch days. Jetty Park and the A1A shoulder fill for every launch from the Cape, and a night launch fills them after midnight. Traffic backs down A1A and across the Beachline, and a scheduled relief that has to cross it leaves an hour early. For a property with a view of the pad, a launch is a crowd event whether or not it is on the calendar.
Cape Canaveral questions
Before you call
Are you actually based in Cape Canaveral?
No. Our office is on Merritt Island at 137 S Courtenay Pkwy, about nine miles away by the Beachline, and the Cape Canaveral roster is scheduled from there. The Beachline crosses the island directly to the port, so it is a short drive except on launch days.
Do you work inside the port or the Space Force Station?
No. The port has its own security and the Space Force Station is federal property. We cover the civilian city: the hotels, the condominium blocks, the businesses along A1A and the port's commercial edge.
Can you staff a hotel to the cruise schedule?
Yes. Most hotel coverage here is built around embarkation days, when the property turns over and the lot fills, rather than a flat nightly post. Tell us the ships and we will size the roster to the week.
Can you fly drones over a Cape Canaveral property?
South of the port, usually: the airspace over the city is largely uncontrolled below 400 feet. North of the port is the Space Force Station and its national-security flight restriction, which is absolute. Florida's drone privacy statute governs the rest, and we confirm the parcel before we quote.
