What to check

Agency license
B-1500005
Florida requires a Class B agency license to provide security services anywhere in the state, Cocoa Beach included. Ask for the number and look it up.
Officer license
Class D · G
Every officer is licensed individually. Class D unarmed, Class G armed. An unlicensed guard on your property is your exposure, not the agency's.
Insurance
COI on request, unconfirmed
General liability and workers' compensation, certificate issued to your entity by name.
Local reference
Since 2020
Thunder on Cocoa Beach, the offshore powerboat races each May: asset protection and access control for the pits and production infrastructure, seven consecutive years.

Working in this city

What Cocoa Beach asks of a post

Airspace. Most of Cocoa Beach is uncontrolled airspace under 400 feet, but the city has a military airfield on its southern boundary. Patrick Space Force Base's controlled airspace covers the south end of town, and the Space Force Station's restricted airspace begins on the far side of the port to the north. A beachfront parcel near the pier is usually a clean flight; one near the base is a LAANC request that may not clear. We check the grid before we quote.

Storm season. A barrier island is in the county's first evacuation zone, and Cocoa Beach's exposure is surge and beach erosion rather than inland flooding. Pre-storm securing for a hotel here means the pool deck, the ground-floor openings and the dune walkovers, done before the causeway closes. Post-storm, the property is checked when the causeway reopens, and the first report is often the one the insurer wants.

The season. Cocoa Beach runs on a calendar the rest of the county does not. Spring break fills the hotels and the beach in March, the Thunder on Cocoa Beach races draw a six-figure crowd over four days in May, the air show follows, and cruise passengers overnight here year-round. A hotel post in Cocoa Beach is sized to that calendar, not to the property alone.

The strip. A1A is the only spine, and everything on it has beach on one side and the road on the other. Access control for a hotel or an event here is about the beach access points and the parking, not a fence line. SR 520 is the one road on and off in the middle of town; otherwise it is A1A north to the Beachline or south to the Pineda, and a detail plans its relief around the traffic on whichever it uses.

Cocoa Beach questions

Before you call

Are you actually based in Cocoa Beach?

No. Our office is on Merritt Island at 137 S Courtenay Pkwy, at the other end of the SR 520 causeway, about seven miles west. Beachside posts are scheduled from that roster and the causeway is the drive.

What have you actually done in Cocoa Beach?

Thunder on Cocoa Beach, every May since 2020: asset protection and access control for the dry pits, the staging areas and the production infrastructure through the nights of the event. It is written up on our site. Hotel and condominium work here is under contract and referenced only with the client's consent.

Can you staff spring break?

Yes, with notice. The March weeks are the busiest on the beachside calendar and the roster is committed early, so a hotel or venue that wants coverage for spring break should book it in the winter, not the week before.

Can you fly drones over a Cocoa Beach property?

Over most of the city, yes: the airspace is uncontrolled below 400 feet. Near the south end, Patrick Space Force Base's tower controls the airspace and the answer is a LAANC request that may be refused. Florida's drone privacy statute applies on the beach as everywhere else, and a hotel's guests are the first thing a flight plan has to respect.
