Security officers in
Suntree,
Florida.
Suntree is the golf-course community along Wickham Road between Viera and Melbourne, about fourteen miles south of our Merritt Island office. We staff gate posts and patrol for its associations, standing posts for the medical and office parks on Wickham, and event details at the venues a few minutes down Wickham.

What Suntree asks of a post
Airspace. Suntree sits just north of the line where Melbourne's controlled airspace begins. Most of the community is uncontrolled below 400 feet, and a flight over a course or a roofline here usually needs no tower authorization; the southern edge toward Melbourne is checked on the grid parcel by parcel. In a community this dense, Florida's drone privacy statute and the association's own rules are the real constraints, and both are settled before anything flies.
Storm season. Suntree is inland and mature, so its exposure is wind, downed trees and long outages rather than water, with the course lakes and canals taking the rain. Gated communities here have a specific storm problem: an unpowered gate fails open or fails shut, and either way it needs a person on it. Ride-out and post-storm posts in Suntree are gate posts first, with a patrol of the streets once the roads are passable.
The corridor. Wickham Road is the spine, running from Viera in the north to Melbourne in the south with I-95 a mile to the west, and the community lies along it: the associations on either side, the medical offices and office parks on the road itself, the Pineda Causeway at the northern end carrying beachside traffic across. A post in Suntree is a straight run down US-1 and Wickham from dispatch, past Rockledge and Viera.
The venues. The King Center for the Performing Arts stands a few minutes south of Suntree on the same road, and it has been under our continuous coverage since January 2018. The roster that staffs it is the roster that covers Suntree, which is the practical reason event and gate posts here are among the best-known ground on our schedule.
Suntree questions
Before you call
Are you actually based in Suntree?
No. Our office is on Merritt Island at 137 S Courtenay Pkwy, about fourteen miles north. Suntree posts are scheduled from that roster, and the drive is US-1 to Wickham Road.
How fast can you put an officer on a Suntree property?
Standard lead time is 72 hours for a scheduled post. Same-day callout is often possible for one to three officers but depends on the live roster, which is why it is confirmed by phone rather than through a form.
Can you cover a homeowners' association gate?
Yes. Gate posts are written to the association's visitor and vendor policy, with the log and the incident reports formatted for the board packet, and the escalation path agreed with the manager before the first shift. Roving patrol of the streets and the course perimeter is added where the association wants it.
Can you fly drones over a Suntree property?
Usually. Most of Suntree is uncontrolled airspace below 400 feet and needs no LAANC authorization; the southern edge toward Melbourne's airport is checked on the grid. Florida's drone privacy statute governs what can be imaged of the neighbours, which on a course is everyone, and the association's consent is recorded before the first flight.
